Croydon announces London’s largest international Urban Art Festival taking place in September 2018... and it’s completely FREE!
This celebration is set to be London’s largest international Urban Art Festival and will see Croydon host some of the world’s leading urban artists from around the globe, adding even more colour to the Croydon skyline.
As well as the introduction of over 60 new murals to the already vibrant streets of Croydon, there will also be a number of new installations in and around the town centre, underpinned by an exclusive exhibition hosted by RISEgallery and a new pop up gallery showcasing amazing and affordable art work.
In addition, the festival will deliver a ground-breaking programme of free events including live music, workshops, walking tours, independent film screenings (some of which will be UK premieres), and a major block party with world renowned DJs.
Main events will be hosted between 5 and 15 September 2018.
Kevin Zuchowski-Morrison, owner of RISEgallery said: “We’ve been driving public art in Croydon for the last four years, and Croydon is now hosting a truly international festival celebrating that. The festival will really solidify Croydon’s position on the international urban art scene as one of the key places in Europe to visit for street art.”
Councillor Oliver Lewis, Croydon Council cabinet member for culture, leisure and sport said: “This festival marks another big step in changing perceptions of Croydon through the calibre of events we’re hosting, and by leading the way for London on urban art.”
Croydon Council Cultural Director Paula Murray said: “I’m so pleased at the mix we have in this year’s festival - combining local, national and international talent, and showcasing artists from diverse backgrounds, and particularly women working in street art.”
Matthew Sims, chief executive of Croydon BID said, “The urban art festival will attract people from all walks of life, offering visitors to Croydon a more vibrant experience in the town centre.”
The festival is supported by Croydon Council, Croydon BID, The Arts Council and HUB.
