Crown and Pepper Provide Meals for NHS Staff in Croydon’s Community
The Crown and Pepper has not stopped serving its food since the lockdown, as it quickly transformed its operation to an efficient takeaway and delivery service. The Crown and Pepper’s menu has become popular on Deliveroo and Uber Eats, even swiftly gaining a Local Superstar status on Uber Eats. They are also offering a 25% discount on all collections if you have an NHS card, and they are open weekdays, and 4.30pm to 2am on weekends.
Established by Raj Shukla, the Crown and Pepper is owned and run by one of his sons, Jaimin Shuklar. It has gone from strength to strength in the past 12 months, being shortlisted for a Business Excellence award last year, and being listed as one of the best Indian restaurants in Croydon by reviews in TripAdvisor in February this year.
During this time of crisis, their community spirit has been exemplary. They’ve been providing popular, delicious sounding dishes, such as Chilli Paneer, Vegetable Chow Mein, Vegetable Singapore Noodles, Chicken Korma and Rice, Sweet and Sour Chicken to NHS staff at Croydon medical centres, including: Croydon University Hospital, Tudor House Nursing Home and White Horse Medical Practice.
Dr Agnelo Fernandes at the Parchmore Medical Centre said:
"Food was lovely and very much appreciated. Thank you for your kindness in these unprecedented times as the next phase of the pandemic will be very much in the community. Be Agnelo"
It is heartening to hear of businesses, like the Crown and Pepper, who are not only modifying to meet the needs of the general public, considering the health and well-being of their staff and following strict government guidelines, but also showing true altruism in helping their community and our NHS staff in particular.
