The January sales seem to soak up every last penny, payday seems a million years’ away and everyone is either on a budget, off the booze or on a diet. But there’s no need to feel down with Check Out Croydon around; we’re here to get you through the winter blues.
On the bright side, our pubs, bars, restaurants and entertainment venues all know that it’s going to take a lot more to get you guys out the door. So, there’ll be lots of special offers and discounts; keep a close eye on Check Out Croydon.
Having a dry January? Then, why not try a different kind of evening of entertainment?
We’re lucky to have this unique bar/café in Croydon, with an incredible choice of over 400 board games. Here, you’ll never get bored. Apparently, Ludoquist has seen lots of successful first dates as it’s an easy-going way to get to know each other. But as well as date night, it also makes for a sociable night out with friends, because people actually interact with each other. It’s also a great way to meet new people and, on Mondays, they hold an open night, ensuring no one is ever left out.
Heart of Gaming
With an abundance of authentic, retro games machines, such as Tekken 3 and In the Groove dance machines, it’s only £10 to play as many games you like for as long as you like. On Sundays, from about 2pm, the weekly Super Smash Brothers tournament is hugely popular, with people travelling from afar to come and play in the comfortable set up, complete with beanbags.
If making money whilst having fun, being entertained and enjoying reasonably priced food and drink sounds good, why not try bingo? Bingo has had a bit of a rebirth in recent years, and it’s started to attract a wider audience. Anyone over 18 is welcome and you can simply turn up on the night to get in.
Or do you feel like getting a world away? Here in Croydon, the centre of the universe, we have London’s premier Virtual Reality (VR) and gaming bar. The prices begin at £27.99 for 60 minutes, but you can take turns and share costs with a friend or two. What’s more, Limitless VR offers a 10% discount to Check Out Croydon cardholders.
David Lean Cinema
Croydon’s own arthouse cinema aims for inclusivity and a programme of interesting, diverse films. It regularly shows films with subtitles, for the hard of hearing, as well as dementia friendly screenings, and films specifically shown for babes in arms.
The tickets are purposefully kept at low prices, with further concessions for persons aged 60 and over, full time students, claimants and people with disabilities, and people under 25.
Or simply head to our 'Whats On' section; we're busy ensuring that you can check out everything happening in Croydon's town centre!
